Canada's Heritage Minister Sheila Copps purportedly spent $117,000 in travel expenses last year. To put that into perspective, Lloyd Axworthy, who is expected to travel extensively as foreign minister, only spent $37,650. Perhaps Sheila likes to spend a lot of time outside of Canada to avoid being inundated by too much home-grown culture. We aren't suppowed to watch U.S. television or read foreign magazines while Sheila can take off any time she feels like it. With ministers like Sheila, why some think that Canada can get by with just one airline is a mystery. Perhaps her travel expenses could be reduced by giving her one-way tickets. Sweet little Sheila should be punished for her extravagance--she should be locked in a room and forced to watch endless reruns of Riverdale and The Red Green Show.
