According to the Durham Childrens Aid Society the following guidelines are reasonable:

Age 13 to 14: longer periods (2 to 5 hours) may be acceptable
Age 15 to 16: should be able to be alone for a full day

许多人争辩10岁独自放家里不能算 unlawfully exposes... so that his/her life is likely to be endangered，这个，不出事则皆大欢喜，出了事如何定义 unlawfully，警察说了算，这可是刑事犯罪，写在刑法里的。所以有10岁以下不能独自做任何事的说法，不要冒这个险。

我没转发下一段是因为觉得好像16岁以下都该看着，10岁的小孩就不用说了。当然没有家长会看着16岁的孩子了。
