Do not think so. If you do not go from NYC but directly from Toronto, they may not let you boarding. On the way back, it may be ok, namely, you can get out from Toronto. The intention of Air Canada is to attract more customers from NYC.
Thanks, I heard that! No one will buy a ticket from Toronto if it is ok. Canadian residents are discriminated by their own airline.
