I've been watching for a laptop for almost 4 months. If you are going to IBM shop or future shop, of course you may not get an A31 for CND$3000. But ...... I have once negociated on an A31(P4 2.0) for U$1800, but for me it's still expensive. My budget is only around CND$1500. I don't buy a laptop to travel or use for business, so 9.3 pounds for me is nothing.
I used an IBM laptop before. It was broken on the floor and even cannot closed properly, but .... it still worked very well. So that's why I like IBMs, but it's really expensive. I also used an Dell Latitude before, Dells are heavier than IBMs, but ....... it was powerful and gave me no problem. My company's laptop are Dell series, so that's why I also like Dells.
So to darkchild, if you want to buy a laptop, the very first thing you need to make a desicion is which part you consider most. Like what I said, I want to buy a laptop to replace my desktop, cos my desktop doesn't work well and I may leave Ottawa soon or may leave Canada soon. So I consider most is the screen and memory, don't even think of weight. That's why I give you several models which not fit for portability. So.......you should let us know which parts you consider most, travelling, powerful or battery life, ect?

well, I might be going to work in a foreign country, and might even be working and traveling at the same time. That's why I'm going to buy a laptop as my main source of computer!
what I'm looking for is a stable computer that won't give me any trouble and has good performance.
I'll definitely look into IBM, but I would also take other's advice.

merivale mall对面,在merivale街上,你从OU出来,最快的方法是做97或87到billingsbridge下车,下楼梯,走到对面站台,那里是111往lincoln fields的方向的车站.坐111,大约17分钟,你会到达merivale和meadowlands的交叉口,111会左转,半分钟以后,你将会在右边看见futureshop,车开过futureshop,你就要下车,马路对面就是bestbuy,在我刚才提的那个交叉口,往右转就是staples.你坐st laurent方向的111回家,在billingsbridge下车,找到相反方向的97或87可以直接回家.在97/87那个站台你也可以坐4,40,140等,到hurdman,然后转95回家.
