A homeless man in Boston turned in a lost backpack containing nearly $42,000 in checks and cash over the weekend, officials confirmed.
The man, whom Boston police did not identify, approached officers outside a TJ Maxx store in the Boston neighborhood of Dorchester around 6 p.m. Saturday with a black backpack. The man told authorities he found the bag, which contained a passport and a large sum of money, in front of the store.

Inside the backpack, police found $2,400 cash and $39,500 in American Express travelers' checks. The bag also contained passports and "various personal papers," according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.
Just an hour later, around 7 p.m., Saturday, an employee from a Best Buy store near the TJ Maxx store where the backpack was found, contacted police to report a male customer who said he had lost a backpack containing, "a large sum of money."
After matching the name and photo on the Republic of China passport found in the backpack to the Best Buy customer who reported his backpack missing, Boston police returned the bag and money to the man, authorities said.
A spokeswoman for the Boston Police Department declined to offer any additional details when reached today by ABCNews.com but said the department may hold a press conference later on today in regards to the case.

James
但是,美国人在为Janes 捐款

Authorities said that the backpack's owner didn't want his identity made public, but that he was a Chinese student who was visiting another student in Boston.
A police spokeswoman said authorities don't know his age either, but said that James is staying at a city homeless shelter and that many people have expressed interest in helping him since hearing about his good deed.
The Good Samaritan said in his statement that he worked as a file clerk in the Boston municipal court system for 13 years, but lost his job and became homeless after problems with his boss.
James said it would be difficult for him to hold down a job because he suffers from Meniere's disease, which the Mayo Clinic describes as an inner ear disorder that causes episodes of vertigo.

Glen James was honored by Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis on Monday and thanked for an 'extraordinary show of character and honesty'
James said that he doesn't want to be a burden to his relatives and that people at the shelter help him. He said God has always looked after him. James gets food stamps and panhandles to make money to do laundry, to pay for transportation and buy other ‘odds and ends,’ he said.
On Monday, he also thanked the strangers who have given him spare change on the street.
‘It's just nice to have some money in one's pocket so that as a homeless man I don't feel absolutely broke all the time,’ he said.
A fundraising page has been on started on the crowd-sourcing fundraising website GoFundMe.com in a bid to raise money to thank James for doing the right thing.
The page was started by Ethan Whittington, who told Boston Magazine that after reading about what James had done he wanted to do something. He hopes to raise $50,000.
‘I thought what he did was very honorable,’ he said.

要是我,看丫那么有钱,旅行支票4万多足够他花了,现金留下没有心理负担的说
问题是,技术上如何实现呢?

不过,可能有录像。

有可能害了后来的James:shy:

世界各地法律不同。有的地方捡到的东西不交还失主或者交给警察会有麻烦。当然,这样的地方都有很好的法定奖赏。
