所谓办下来是个什么概念？我大概去年12月的时候填了个表，交上去以后就没有消息了！不过已经开始给政府打工了，是不是应该也通知我一下通过没通过啊？

Since you have already started your job, you'd better keep you mouth shut, cause it's not your problem any more. I knew a guy who started without clearance, two months later, suddenly the director raised this issue in a meeting, then guess what, he was kicked out! You know, some folks in the government are idiots.

It is OK for you to work while the process is on going. I got my clearance checking finished just 3 weeks before my contract was over.

我上回联系的那个代理已经帮我申请下来了security clearance,虽然只是可能在6月份的时候有一个大项目，他还是在3月份见了我一次，并且帮我申请了security clearance, 那个时候我刚刚landing 不到一个月。

所以，?..

Security clearance has 6 level. I think you just get Enhance reliability. For "Secret level",new immigrant is not available to apply for it.

But some projects in government, they do need "secret level" Security clearance. It need 6 -9 months to obtain.

有可能跟名字有关. 一般安检先做NAME SEARCH, 看你和有记录的间谍, 罪犯是否同名. 然后还要做CREDIT CHECK. 哦, 对了, 跟安检的LEVEL也有关. 我的是SECRET级, 十年背景调查, 用了六个多月.

Sage , Could you tell me how many years you have been in Canada ?

Some people told me that people who apply for SECRET level security clearance need at least 5 years to be in Canada.

Some said that it need 10 years.

It's 10 years background check, but I don't know if those 10 years must be in Canada. I had to provide all addresses, telephone numbers and whereabouts in the past 10 years.
BTW, I've been to Canada for nearly 13 years.

I do not think they can waive for security clearance.

Usually government or company work for government project ask for security clearance.
It is a policy. Do you think they can change the policy for you ?

没有clerance,保安部门不会发给你通行证,变通的手段是,让manager每天上班前在大门口把你sign in,有他的签字你就能领到临时的当天有效pass,如果将来出了问题的话,manager承担责任.

以上情况仅适用短期contract/term. Perm不会有变通的余地.

Just ask your agent help you do it. It took me 3 weeks.

I think his/her problem is "secret level clearance", one has to live in Canada for at least 10 years to apply it.

If you have not lived outside China for 10 years then forget about to apply for Secret Secuity Clearance as you will not be able to get it and no agence will sponsor you to get one unless they get you a fake one.
