Stranger enters bedrooms of Ottawa women
By Zev Singer, OTTAWA CITIZEN September 30, 2013

OTTAWA — Ottawa Police are warning people to keep their doors locked after a man broke into two Sandy Hill homes and in each case entered a bedroom of a sleeping woman.

Police say that at about 4:35 a.m. Sunday morning, a man entered the first home through an unlocked door. They say a female victim was awakened by the suspect in her bedroom.

While police were on their way to this call, another call came in for a second, similar break-in a few blocks away. In this case, the victim was also awakened by the suspect in her bedroom.

Police searched the area with a dog but couldn’t find the man.

Staff Sgt. Kal Ghadban of the Ottawa Police Central Break and Enter Unit said neither victim was physically hurt.

“In one case the suspect did make physical contact with the victim, but we’re not going to be more specific than that,” Ghadban said.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black man with a shaved head, six-feet to six-foot-three, 20 to 30 years old, with a medium-muscular build. He was wearing a long-sleeve grey or beige sweater or possible hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information can call Staff Sgt. Ghadban at 613-236-1222 ext. 5811 or Crime Stoppers.
