爬到楼上看了一下，不知道是不是因为太想看到了，就内心认为从云中隐隐约约的冒出绿光来。总之拍出照片是看到不到的，只好后期yy一把了，把云yy成极光吧。

Another celestial dud: Skywatchers disappointed by northern lights no-show

OTTAWA — Promises of a spectacular display of the northern lights over Ottawa were dashed Thursday night when the solar storm predicted by scientists ended up being much weaker than anticipated.
The good news for Ottawa stargazers: a complete cloud cover rolled in by about 9 p.m. that would have made any sky show invisible anyway.
Some predictions said observers would see the northern lights as far south as Colorado, but Twitter reports showed mostly disappointment, except in high northern latitudes.
“Yes! Aurora in #Iceland tonight. Green curtains & arcs of shimmering light over the haunting mountains. Simply breathtaking” tweeted (@)ActiveAstronomy.
Observers in Norway tweeted spectacular photos of green-glowing curtains over fiordlands.
But most weren't so lucky. From West Lancashire in England: "hate to admit defeat, but I’m heading off to bed. Fingers crossed for everyone.”
Interest in the aurora was enough to crash the website of the British Geological Survey, which had touted the night as the best chance to see the aurora in Britain in years.
Heavy traffic also hindered the aurora forecast website at the University of Alaska’s Geophysical Institute. The site did note that they were seeing a big show in Alaska.
The aurora excitement was generated by a huge solar flare earlier in the week that sent solar radiation headed straight for Earth.
The authoritative U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted the radiation would reach Earth’s atmosphere at a speed of 700 kilometres per second. When it did strike at about 3 p.m. Ottawa time Thursday, however, the wave was travelling at a stately about 400 kilometres per second.
Earlier Thursday, Ottawa observers were hoping for a big show.
“It looks really, really good,” said Gary Boyle, president of the Ottawa chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society. “Get out and enjoy it. It’s always a chance — it’s not etched in stone — but (they’re) predicting 90 per cent, so it’s a pretty good chance.”
Solar eruptions produce radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum. Tuesday’s solar eruption was classified as an “X-1” flare, Boyle said, which in turn generated an “S-2” level solar storm in Earth’s atmosphere.
The enormous sun spot that spawned it measures 200,000 kilometres across — big enough to swallow the Earth three times over.
The solar storm diverted some airline flights around the poles and a planned launch of a resupply ship for the International Space Station was scrapped Wednesday because of the risk the solar radiation poses to the unmanned rocket’s sensitive electronics.
Alas, Boyle’s “not etched in stone” remark proved prescient.
“Storming reaching the G2 G3 levels appears unlikely tonight,” reported @ontariostargazing, an astro photographer from Kitchener-Waterloo.
