It depends on the version of your norton, if it's 2002, you need a patch to crack the suscription deadline(better yse 2003, more stable and functional), if you are using 2003, uninstall it completely(make sure you clear up its all entries in your registry and everything left in your "program files" folder, otherwise it won't work for the following steps(run regedit.exe to check it out),then reinstall the software, the suscription will give you another year to use it...(^^...hope you got what I mean,good luck)

Actually if you are only using antivirus but not Norton Systemworks etc...you can just download the virus definition update file from Norton's official website, and install it manually if you can't figure out what I said above.
