The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) warned that baby food being sold at a Walmart in Kanata may have been tampered with.
The CFIA was tipped off by a report associated with the Walmart store indicating that infant formula had been swapped with another product. The infant formula in question had an intact outer container but the product inside had been substituted with another.
The CFIA said that product swaps can sometimes happen when someone returns a product to a store and isn’t generally caused by the manufacturing process.
There haven’t been any illnesses stemming from this complaint, but customers are warned to check their infant formula thoroughly to ensure that the security seal is still intact and that the contents haven’t been altered or substituted.
If you find that your infant formula has been altered or substituted, don’t use it. Instead, the CFIA urges customers to contact police or the CFIA.
