Capital Facts: OC Transpo ridership — then versus now

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.

In 1921, ridership on the Ottawa Electric Railway — the precursor to OC Transpo — peaked at 336 annual trips per capita. By comparison, OC Transpo’s ridership in 2014 was 113 annual rides per capita.
