The Mainstreet Research poll of 1,969 adults has found that Doug Ford and the Tories have the support of 50.3 per cent of decided or leaning voters compared to 23.9 per cent for Wynne’s Liberals and 18.3 per cent for Andrea Horwath and the NDP. The Green Party had the support of 5.2 per cent of voters while another 2.4 per cent of voters said that they intend to cast a ballot for another party.

Overall, the poll shows the Progressive Conservatives in the lead with 43 per cent of respondents saying they would vote for them or were leaning towards voting for them, compared with about 29 per cent for the Liberals and roughly 21 per cent for the NDP.

他称自己将会很快推出一个简化的五点政纲，他的施政将与自由党截然不同，他主张政府为民众工作，自由党是认为民众为政府工作，所以他不能忍受政治家告诉人民应该怎么做，除了民众和纳税人利益，沒有任何主义可以指导他。
首先，他会通过提高效率等手段减小政府规模和花费，但不会裁员。因为在多伦多市议会时，他与福特市长为纳税人节省了10亿元，并沒人因此被裁。他会取消政府官僚架构和烦琐程序，让安省成为一个对商业大门敞开的地方，他也会斩断闭门交易，结束浪费纳税人钱的派对聚会。
其次，福特不会像韦恩那样与纽约州打贸易战，他会首先检讨自己为何沒有竞争力，是否在政策上对商界友好，同时他会尽量与美国贸易伙伴合作，使安省市场更有活力，从而让商家提升竞争力。
第三，福特在牙医保健方面不会滥开空头支票，只是量入为出，先侧重以长者为对象的牙医护理计划。
第四，福特强调调拔资源、增加医院床位，增加护士人手，一定要逐步改变目前医院病人等候时间过长的恶劣情况。
第五，福特声称韦恩政府未能兑现降低汽车保费15%的承诺，他上台后会与保险公司交涉，在政策上采取恰当行动。
第六，福特表示他将会更多倾听不同文化背景的新移民的声音，关注他们的问题，分享同样的价值观，使他们成为安省居民中有活力的一群。
第七，福特强调在安省流失了30万个制造业职位的情况下，他会制订政策，努力提高安省在吸引企业落户方面的竞争力，为制造业的就业创造良好条件。
以上几点只是福特的一点思路，详细政纲有待正式公布，不过从福特的这几点构思中，大体可以看出他未来的施政方向。
