Seven programs run by Algonquin College at its Perth, Pembroke and Ottawa locations have been suspended because of low enrolment.
For the fall 2018 term, the Perth campus will suspend two office administration programs, a social service worker program, a masonry program, and a carpentry and renovation program.
A power technician program at the Pembroke campus and a kitchen and bath program at the Ottawa campus will also be suspended.
Algonquin said the approximately 200 students already enrolled in those programs will not be affected.
“These are never easy decisions, but they have been taken after thorough review and remediation efforts,” said president Cheryl Jensen in a letter to employees on Friday.
Algonquin said the programs have not yet been officially cancelled. The suspensions will be up for discussion at a meeting on March 22, but it is not known when a final decision will be made.
