A former administrator of a Hunt Club-area elementary school was charged with theft Wednesday after an internal review pointing to missing revenue sparked a police investigation.
City police said that an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board internal review found that the revenues that would typically be generated at Roberta Bondar Public School weren’t received for the 2013-4 school year.
When board officials questioned staff, the employee suspected of taking the cash didn’t return to her job as the school’s office administrator, police said. The board complained to police, who launched an investigation.
Kathleen St-Germain, 45, was charged Wednesday with one count of theft over $5,000. She was released on a promise to appear in court April 12.
St-Germain is the mother of golfer Grace St-Germain, a member of the Golf Canada national women’s amateur team.
Grace St-Germain is currently a member of the Daytona State College Falcons golf team in Florida. She had accepted a two-year athletic scholarship to the University of Arkansas starting in the fall of 2018.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Steven Malo of the organized fraud unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5443 or at malos@ottawapolice.ca.
