Six people are homeless after a fire that began in the bedroom of a home on Brant Street on Sunday evening. No one was injured.
Ottawa Fire Services received a call just after 6 p.m. about the fire at 385 Brant St., which is west of the intersection of St. Laurent Boulevard and McArthur Avenue.
The fire spread from a bedroom on the second floor to a small area between the roof and the ceiling, but was under control in less than half an hour, a Fire Services media release said, adding that three adult women and three adult men were displaced and were being helped by victim services.
The damage was estimated at $10,000 for the structure and $40,000 for house contents.
