Liberal MPP Bob Chiarelli visited the heart of North Kanata’s technology neighbourhood Friday to argue that Liberal investment in research and development has helped to build the sector.
Chiarelli, seeking re-election in Ottawa West-Nepean riding, listed a string of major employers including IBM, Nokia, Mitel, Huawei and Shopify, “most all of whom have received job-creating funding for R&D right here in Ottawa.”
He said the provincial Jobs and Prosperity Fund has invested $638 million in Ottawa projects and claimed the Conservatives would not invest as much.
“The success of this sector would be put at risk with a PC Doug Ford government.”
