A fierce and smoky fire consumed a hedge and two sheds Sunday afternoon in Nepean.
Firefighters got multiple 911 calls at around 1:45 to report a fire at the rear of 14 Bowmoor St. near Meadowlands Drive and Merivale Road. When they arrived, they found thick black smoke blanketing the area and a fire burning in a hedge that ran along a number of properties. The fire also destroyed two small sheds.
It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control and about an hour before the flames were extinguished and firefighters were certain the fire hadn’t spread.
A fire investigator was trying to determine the cause. There were no injuries.
