“It takes a million guts to put your name on a sign but none to steal one.”

Nepean Progressive Conservative incumbent Lisa MacLeod’s quip was perhaps the pithiest response to the discovery of a stash of stolen law signs that turned up in Constance Bay ahead of the June 7 provincial election.

Jack MacLaren, the Trillium Party of Ontario candidate in Kanata-Carleton, tweeted his thanks Tuesday to a friend who MacLaren said had found the pilfered signs on Whistler Road. There were 17 Trillium signs, four Progressive Conservative and two NDP signs.

“This is very disheartening to volunteers of all parties who give freely of their time to install these signs and those that donate their hard earned money to purchase them,” tweeted a supporter Kanata-Carleton PC candidate Merrilee Fullerton.

“Please people just leave them alone.”

1) Signs are paid by donors- $10's & $20's from seniors & middle class families.

2) Volunteers put up signs & it's not easy work. They do it because they believe in their candidate.

3) It takes a million guts to put your name on a sign but none to steal one.

Don't steal signs. https://t.co/2ARNYW7lBm
