The riding includes all of the united counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry except for the Township of North Glengarry.

Covering 2,812 sq. km, this riding is home to 103,320 people.

The candidates:


Liberal – Heather Megill
A teacher with the Upper Canada District School Board and a vice-president with the Upper Canada Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario. She is a retired Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve and former member of the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders.

PC – Jim McDonell
Born and raised on a dairy farm in Glengarry County. Holds a mechanical engineering degree from Queen’s University. He worked with Bell Canada for 32 years in planning, engineering and supervisory roles. He served three terms as a municipal councillor and was elected mayor of South Glengarry in 2003, 2006, and 2010. In 2011, Jim won the provincial election for the PCs following 27 years of Liberal dominance in the Cornwall area.

NDP – Marc Benoit
A freelance reporter dedicated to community journalism and a transit activist who successfully worked to lower transit costs for Cornwall college students.

Green Party – Elaine Kennedy

Libertarian – Sabile Trimm
Used to live in Montreal where she worked as a research scientist for a large pharmaceutical company. Now lives on a farm in Eastern Ontario and is a small business owner.
