Gatineau police, bolstered by the force’s SWAT team, surrounded an Old Gatineau motel Thursday after officers answering a robbery call were told that there might be a firearm in one of the rooms.
Police answering a call at the Ritz Motel, 137 Gréber Blvd., at about 9 a.m. were “informed” that there were suspicions that a weapon might be in one of the rooms.
The officers called for backup and police ringed the low-rise motel, although the street was not closed.
As of early afternoon, police remain unsure whether anyone was in the room.
Police offered no further description of the weapon.
There were no immediate reports of arrests or injuries.
