It appears the killdeer will have safely flown the coop by the time the first note is struck at Bluesfest 2018.
Bluesfest organizers told this newspaper Saturday evening that three of the four eggs in the famous bluesnest had hatched, and the fourth was expected to hatch before nightfall.
The young birds gain their independence extremely quickly, and the nest was expected to be abandoned 24 hours after the last egg hatched.
The first Bluesfest acts take to the stage on July 5.
