----I'm originally from England...
---Degree in Philosophy at York University, Degree in Education at University of Ottawa . There, I met my wife, we had three kids (Charlotte 15, Francesca 12, and Magnus 9).
I've been a teacher with the Ottawa Catholic School Board for nearly 18 years. I was voted Ottawa's Favourite Teacher in 2016, Faces Magazine (thank you to my students!). I currently teach Grades 9-12 at Sacred Heart.
Since 2005 moving in Kanata North community, I have served in various volunteer capacities and on various boards. Most notably, perhaps, is the fact that I was president of the Briarbrook - Morgan's Grant Community Association, where I held public meetings on everything from safety to traffic and transit. I also ran events like Summerfest, Winter Family Fun Days, and two hugely successful Multicultural Festivals.
While with the BMGCA, I also devised an anti-graffiti initiative where, with the help of volunteers, we cleaned tagging graffiti from all over Morgan's Grant and Briarbrook. That strategy became a model for the City and I was awarded a Civic Appreciation Certificate for our efforts.
As my family grew, we moved to Kanata Lakes, and it wasn't long before I became president of the Kanata Lakes Community Association. In that role I advocated for Light Rail to Kanata, ran more events, and appeared on several radio and television shows to discuss suburban development, Light Rail (as always), the fate of the Canadian Tire Centre (should the arena be relocated), the Emerald Ash Borer, and much more (some of those interviews can be found on my homepage).
I've run for City Council before (twice, as a matter of fact!). In 2014 I placed 2nd to the formidable Marianne Wilkinson. It's thanks to the thousands who voted for me then that I feel compelled to serve and return for a run to represent the people of Kanata North again in 2018. I am absolutely dedicated to the service of all people and all things Kanata North.
I was awarded the Mayor's Agent of Change Medallion by former mayor Larry O'Brien and have been nominated for Kanata North Citizen of the Year and the City of Ottawa's Citizen of the Year.
I still live in Kanata Lakes, and I remain a strong supporter of my neighbours here and in Morgan's Grant, Briarbrook, Beaverbrook and Arcadia.
