Traffic impacts in Ottawa for the coming days – beginning Thursday, October 25

Upcoming events and projects will have the following impacts on Ottawa traffic:

  • Elgin Street: Hydro Ottawa work continues along Elgin Street between Gladstone Avenue and Somerset Street. On-street parking on both sides of Elgin Street is prohibited within these blocks. This phase of Hydro Ottawa’s work to bury overhead hydro lines should be completed in early November. Visit ottawa.ca/elginstreet to stay up to date on Elgin Street traffic impacts.
  • Portage Bridge: From Friday, October 26 at 6 pm to Sunday October 28 at 8 pm, Portage Bridge will be closed to all southbound traffic for repaving, weather permitting. Detour signs will be in place. Motorists traveling to Ottawa from Gatineau are encouraged to use the Chaudière Bridge or the Alexandra Bridge. Southbound access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.
  • Highway 417: From Wednesday, October 24 to Monday December 31, westbound motorists on Highway 417 can expect intermittent lane closures during off-peak hours in the area east of Blair Road and along the Blair Road off-ramp, Construction will mostly take place on the shoulder of the road and surrounding area.
  • Dufferin Road and Stanley Avenue: From Monday, October 29 to Friday, December 7, Dufferin Road and Stanley Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Crichton Street and River Lane due to construction. Flagpersons will direct motorists. Detour signs will be in place for cycling and pedestrian traffic.
