Stephen Lecce, Ontario's minister of education, announced in a press conference that, "increasing vaccine rates and decreasing case counts in communities is very promising in our broader vision to restore a more normal September."

Lecce said he had recently spoken with Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams and Dr. Kieran Moore, who will soon be taking the role over to reaffirm the timeline of July with hopes for in-person learning in September.

"They believe in July we will be able to provide that final guidance with the aim of a more normal, more positive and more interactive school experience for children that is fully in class, where we believe children belong."

Lecce said that they will continue to encourage children 12 and up to get a vaccine and reaffirmed that Ontario does have a plan to get education staff and students who are eligible and willing to receive their second dose by August ahead of the school year.

"I've always said the chief medical officer of health, in July, is going to make an assessment of our COVID vaccine rates for students and staff, as well as the broader public health indicators, where the COVID case numbers are, and the trajectory we're on. That was the plan for last year. It's what we're doing this year," said Lecce.

安省要求必须12岁以上（即过了12岁生日）的才能接种疫苗，就是说有一部分即将7年级的中学生（2009年9月份以后出生的）在开学前还不能打。。。


BC和阿省已经允许所有2009年出生的孩子都可以现在接种疫苗。

残酷的数字再一次提醒我们，千万别大意啊！多地的夏令营都爆出了孩子被感染的新闻，家长们带孩子人群去聚集的地方，还是要三思啊！

不过，在今年冬季，孩子们有望接种疫苗了。

FDA官员周四表示，12岁以下的新冠疫苗紧急使用授权有望在冬季中期通过，并希望之后可以快速通过该年龄段的疫苗完整授权。

目前，部分家庭对接种疫苗犹豫不决的原因之一就是目前新冠疫苗只有紧急使用授权。

而辉瑞和Moderna从3月起开展的12岁以下的试验，预计会在秋季取得结果。

一般FDA对12岁以下疫苗要求有4-6个月的安全随访数据，而成人疫苗只要求2个月随访。

今年好像是9月7日开学，要想完全免疫，还一针没打的家长，至少要在7月27日前打上第一针，28天后第二针，再等14天，才能达到fully vaccinated的效果。

犹豫的家长还有10天的时间考虑。。。

还没给孩子打第一针的家长要抓紧时间了。。。。

目前安省12-17岁的青少年中，65%打了一针, 42%打了两针。

开学后, 打疫苗的学生如果接触了covid病例, 只要检测阴性的，不用在家隔离，可以继续上课。

没打疫苗的要隔离，还要检测多次后才能上课。
