Garbage, transit, city services and more – all the holiday impacts you need to know

The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes and City service impacts for the Thanksgiving holiday on Monday, October 13.



Client Service Centres

  • The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only. Please visit ottawa.ca/311 to submit a service request online.
  • All ServiceOttawa’s Client Services Centres, Provincial Offences and Administrative Penalty System (APS) counters and phone lines will be closed. Counters are located at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West), Ben Franklin Place (101 Centrepointe Drive), Orléans (255 Centrum Boulevard) and the City’s Provincial Offences Court at 100 Constellation Drive
  • The Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Avenue will be closed.
  • The City of Ottawa Spay and Neuter Clinic at 26 Concourse Gate will be closed.
  • The City of Ottawa Archives and Gallery 112 at the James Bartleman Centre will be closed from Saturday, October 11 to Monday, October 13.

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection

  • There will be no curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Monday, October 13. Pick up will take place on Tuesday, October 14. In addition, the collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
  • Residents can sign up to receive collection reminders and service alerts by email or phone call at ottawa.ca/CollectionCalendar.
  • Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular scheduled day. Collections of multi-residential recycling containers, bulky items and green bins will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
  • The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open on Monday, October 13 from 9 am to 5 pm.



Parking

  • All City parking regulations apply.



Transit Services

  • OC Transpo bus and O-Train service will run on a Sunday schedule.
  • O-Train Line 1 will run from 8 am to 11 pm.
  • O-Train Lines 2 and 4 will run from approximately 7:30 am to 11:30 pm.
  • Rural Shopper Route 301 will not run.
  • Use the Travel Planner or Transit, the recommended app for OC Transpo customers, to plan your trip.
  • On Thanksgiving and every Saturday, Sunday and statutory holiday, take advantage of the 2-for-1 DayPass, where two customers, 11 years of age or older, can ride all day for $12. Purchase the 2-for-1 DayPass at any ticket machine or from your bus operator. Kids 10 and under can ride for free every day on OC Transpo buses, the O-Train and Para Transpo.
  • The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be open on Monday, October 13 from 10 am to 6 pm.
  • The OC Transpo Lost and Found at St-Laurent Station will be closed. Customers can submit an inquiry about a lost item at octranspo.com/lostandfound.
  • The Transit Information line at 613-560-5000 will be open from 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Para Transpo:
    • Regular bookings or recurring trips for Monday, October 13 are automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips for Thanksgiving starting Monday, October 6 by calling 613-560-5000 or using My Para Transpo.
    • The reservations line and My Para Transpo will be open from 7 am to 5 pm for booking trips.
    • To get trip details and cancel a trip, the information and cancellation phone line will be open from 6 am to 12:30 am, and the text 57272 service (standard rates apply) will be open from 6 am to 9 pm.
    • You can also get trip details and cancel trips anytime, 24/7, through the automated phone system or My Para Transpo.
    • The Taxi Coupon line will be closed.

Recreation and cultural services

  • Most recreation and community buildings will be closed on Monday, October 13. However, select pools, arenas, and fitness complexes will operate on a modified schedule. Please check individual facility pages on ottawa.ca for details of modified hours or schedules.
  • All City-run arts centres, theatres, galleries, and museums will be closed on Monday, October 13.
  • The Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, City Hall Art Gallery and Karsh-Masson Gallery at City Hall will be closed on Monday, October 13.



Ottawa Public Health




Employment and Social Services

  • All four Employment and Social Services offices will be closed on Monday, October 13:
    • 370 Catherine Street
    • 2339 Ogilvie Road
    • 100 Constellation Drive
    • 2020 Walkley Road



Municipal child care services




Ottawa Public Library

  • All branches of Ottawa Public Library (including Bookmobile, Homebound services and InfoService) will be closed on Monday, October 13. Digital content, services, and program listings are available through the Ottawa Public Library website. Virtual programs are available on OPL’s YouTube channel. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, October 14.
