Transportation: Pipelines
- Natural gas is transported hundreds of kilometers west via pipelines to the LNG plants in British Columbia (Kitimat).
- Major pipelines include:
- Coastal GasLink Pipeline – main route from northeastern BC / Alberta border to Kitimat
- The pipeline ensures a steady, high-volume supply to the LNG liquefaction plant.
Liquefaction & Export: LNG Canada, Kitimat
- At Kitimat, the natural gas is:
- Cooled to –162°C → turns into liquid (LNG)
- Stored in large tanks
- Loaded onto LNG carriers for shipment to Asia-Pacific markets (China, Japan, South Korea)
