The City of Ottawa, in collaboration with the Downtown BIA, is calling out across Canada for artists to paint a series of 13 pavement artworks along Sparks Street
Attention street artists! We are looking for your talent, your time and your patriotism for Canadiana Block, a unique public art project on Sparks Street.
The City of Ottawa, in collaboration with the Downtown BIA, is reaching out across Canada, calling for professional artists and artist collectives to paint a series of 13 pavement artworks along Sparks Street. The Canadiana Block is to be completed and unveiled in time for Canada Day celebrations in 2026.
Each piece of art will go onto a concrete strip that measures 6.5 feet, or two metres, by 19 feet, or 5.8 metres. Each will represent one of Canada’s 10 provinces and three territories. The artwork installations will be located between Kent Street and Lyon Street.

The Canadiana Block is part of the Centretown Street Safety and Revitalization Action Plan. The plan aims to beautify and elevate the downtown experience for workers, residents, visitors and businesses through a variety of initiatives, including public art. Sparks Street was chosen for this project for its proximity to Parliament Hill and its importance as a pedestrian connection to the historic Lebreton Flats and the Ādisōke Library.
