I saw at least 20 Chinese students got an iron ring last night. CONGRATULATIONS to all of you.

hwoo, someone actually knows that matter. Thanks for the respect, when are you getting yours?

这里研究生毕业可以得到铁指环吗?

well, iron ring is for the PEng title, not for BEng or MEng. you have to be a professional engineer to get the ring.

You don't have to be a professional engineer to get the ring, you just have to graduate from a bachelor of engineering program, wait 'til the course Professional Practice to explain the process of becoming a PE.

Just correct myself, the ring is for undergrad grads, after graduation, you need to work 4 yrs (4 freaky years!!!) to become a PEng.

for more info regarding iron ring, please contact PEO directly.

Dude, this is NOT something makes you beauty when you wear it.......It's nothing related to your COOL style or sth like that. If you are not an engineering student, that's fine, it's not your problem, you probably have no clue about it at all. But, if you are an engineering student, please, for god's sake, never talk about it in that way. Otherwise, you'll see how silly you are......Want to konw why? I'd like share sth. with you:

The ring itself symbolizes the pride we have in our profession while, at the time, reminds us of our humility. The humility arises from the fact that the rings were originally crafted from the steel of a bridge that collapsed ten kilometres from Quebec City.

The bridge was part of the National Trans-Continental Railway linking Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Moncton, New Brunswick. Construction began on the bridge in 1900. On August 29, 1907, just as the bridge neared its completion, it collapsed under the weight of a locomotive loaded with steel. Seventy-five lives were lost in the disaster. A subsequent inquiry revealed that this tragedy was the result of an error in judgement made by the bridge's engineers.

A second attempt to span the river resulted in catastrophe on September 11, 1916, when the centre span of the bridge fell while being hoisted into place. This time, ten more lives were lost. The bridge, the Pont de Quebec Bridge, was finally completed in October 17, 1917.

Although the rings are no longer made from the steel of the bridge, the significance of the Iron Rings remains unchanged.
