Software programing requires more skills and experience than education. Language also plays an important role. When you are on the boat, you learn faster than those not. More imprtantly, it takes some really good companies to establish and continue to expand a quality talent pool. That was what happened in India in software and bio tech industry.

In China, I have to say, the environment is somewhat different. People are interested in making quick cash rather than developing business with future in mind, i.e. relatively lacking the spirit of entrepreneurship, compared to India. That may have been a possibile result of more than half of century's tightly controlled state-own economy, or due to the gambling nautre of Chinese, or both. I don't know yet, still researching.

I am positive that China can build a jumbo jet if leaders decide to do so given its track record, but not that positive on its profitability.

Outsourcing still growing: survey

Report shows business leaders overwhelming believe the movement of U.S. IT jobs overseas will grow.
March 26, 2004: 12:28 PM EST

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Despite the controversy over outsourcing American jobs to overseas locations, U.S. corporate executives expect the trend will grow over the next year, according to a survey of business leaders.

About 86 percent of the executives surveyed said they believe outsourcing information technology services to overseas countries will continue to increase, according to consulting firm DiamondCluster International.

"Executives have become more realistic in their expectations and are now more likely to implement outsourcing initiatives incrementally," said Tom Weakland, head of the firm's outsourcing advisory practice.

"While reducing costs is still the number one reason fueling the outsourcing trend, another key factor is that companies are looking to free up internal resources to focus on more critical initiatives," he added.

Outsourcing has become an increasingly hot topic in the 2004 presidential election as the job market has remained sluggish despite a rebound in the broader economy.

:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

You see the survey? they said (I think they cheating,
just an excuse) one reason of out sourcing is to save
the manpower here for some more critical tasks. So try
to be the guys who will be assigned the "critical jobs".

Critical.....

the only conclusion I got is microsoft should move its BJ branch to India.
A place with much more qualified engineers and, much lower salary.
IT's future is in India. Not China or US.

Faint!!!
