He has been charged not just suspect. The police must have enough evidence to accuse him, at least they feel they have enough evidence. It's not like in China, police can charge or even kill someone easily. The police here are very cautious to lay the charge as if they did this wrong, they will be sued. For sure, the court will have the final words.

Young lady, be VERY VERY careful to "wish luck" to any indicted criminal in Canada. He is NOT a suspect. He is charged.

Suspect is a "person of interest" to police without enough evidence to charge. Then once charge is laid, he is indicted.

It is like: it is your doctor's "professional opinion after test results" (without telling you what, out of concern of some issue) that this CHEN person has a life-threatening virus and you still choose to be in physical contact with him as if you think MAYBE he is perfectly healthy.

I know you have your freedom of speech, but please be very careful and sensitive about what you wish out of respect for the victim.

In a fair legal system, the evidence can not be released to the public untill the jurors are selected and court hearing date is set. This is out of concern of contaminating the public jury opinion thus diminishes the chance for the defendent to have a fair trial.

And this is NOT a speculation-arrest. Police in an open society does NOT make arrest base on speculation. There are lot of legal liability (thus $$) involved if police makes unjustified arrest.

Also in this kinda of high profile case and charge, it will be suicidal to police's reputation, if the police go ahead with an arrest and make accusation on national TV like this without having overwhleming evidence or/and confessions.

BTW, talking about a fair trial, I actually feel bit troubled by the peel police chief's murderer-calling on the national TV. I think this may potentially contaminate the public jury opinion and cause the trial of the case to fail.
