另外，我如果第一个学期（9月到12月）只选2门课行吗？因为离开学校时间太久了，再加上语言的问题，不知能不能适应？

不会吧，mass communication都有人学，难道就没人学social work?

most chinese students don't know what's social work? and it's really hard to study. cause there is no co-op chances and it is a single major, i mean it can't combine with another majors during u study.

social work 在国内叫“社工学”，专注于社会工作，范围很广，任何与社会民生有关的东西都可以由社工负责。目前国内需要大量这样的人才，如果楼主学成回国，前途无量。至于 coop 方面，可以自己找一些义工，行动策划，宣传，或者心理辅导之类的工作，这些也是 social worker 要做的
