PDM manager:
POSITION SUMMARY:
To supervise and coordinate all technical activities related to design, installation and enhancements of the Matrix Product Design Management system(PDM) for all Pulse sites. Develop all programming related to enhancements and maintenance of the PDM system.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
-Maintenance of corporate wide PDM system which includes ensuring that data files are properly backed up, program source code is current and backed up and that security is maintained to avoid corruption of data.
-Develop trigger and report programs using TCL,MCL and report writing tools to support the policies developed for the corporate PDM system.
-Participate in the development of corporate wide PDM strategies.
-Coordinate with the vendor (MatrixOne),local and global PDM business Administrators for installation of enhancements to the PDM system including implementation of new versions, upgrades and software corrections.
-Coordinate with PDM business Administrators, Oracle DBA, Network Manager and Computer Operations personnel to resolve any problems with the PDM system, access of PDM through the Citrix servers and remote distributed stores.
-Provide technical direction,training and consultation to PDM Administrators.
-Provide guidelines for Technical PDM Documentation ( as opposed to application documentation, which is the responsibility of Document Control,) at all Pulse sites within compliance of Corporate policies and standards. Supervise the update and maintenance PDM documentation, including DRP procedures to ensure it is current at all sites.
-Other duties as assigned.
CHALLENGES:
The PDM Systems Manager is challenged to coordinate the efforts of different technical disciplines and the functional departments. The PDM system must be maintained for maximum availability(24 hours per day) while simultaneously enhancing the system to keep up with corporate strategies.
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
-Routine contact is required with the PDM business Administrators, Oracle DBA, Corporate network Manager, Computer Operations department and Document control department. Periodic contact is required with department managers affected by specific PDM projects and the technical staffs of systems that interface with the PDM system (for example CAD systems and ERP systems)
-Frequent contact with PDM vendor, consultants and PDM technical user groups.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
-Strong analytical skills and strong knowledge of Product Development and Document Control functions. Must have experience with MCL and TCL programming, preferably in a MatrixOne environment. Must be familiar with Oracle database administration in a Unix environment.
-At least four years of experience in PDM or Document management environment with responsibilities for the maintenance of the Document database. At least two years of programming experience with responsibilities for developing and integrating new programs in a PDM system. Systems Management experience with MatrixOne is a must.
-Strong English skills, written and verbal, is essential for the successful candidate.
EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields. Extra years of related experiences with primary responsibility for full maintenance of a PDM system can be substituted for degree.
