2004 Canadian top ten best-sellers announced
Toronto, Ontario - The Ford F-Series pickup truck was the best-selling vehicle in Canada in 2004, repeating its best-selling performance from 2003, according to sales figures released by Desrosiers Automotive Consultants. The F-Series truck, which was redesigned for 2004, had annual sales of 71,754, a 4.9% increase from 2003.
Number two on the list was the Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan with total 2004 sales of 63,559, a 2.7% increase over 2003.
The third best-selling vehicle in Canada last year was the Honda Civic (sedan, coupe and hatchback models) with 2004 sales of 61,041, a 4.5% decrease from 2003. The Civic was the best-selling passenger car overall last year, a repeat from 2003.
The Toyota Corolla sedan was fourth, with annual sales of 44,563, an 8.4% decline from 2003. The hot-selling Mazda3 (sedan and hatchback), a new model for 2004, was fifth with total sales of 42,680 - up an astounding 1215% when compared to its predecessor the Protégé.
The sixth, seventh and eight best-selling vehicles in 2004 were all full-size pickup trucks: GMC Sierra (39,391) +9.3%, Chevrolet Silverado (38,005) +0.6%, and Dodge Ram (37,709) +2.8%.
Ninth on the best-sellers list was the venerable Pontiac Sunfire (sedan and coupe) with sales of 33,724, down 5.7% from 2003.
Tenth overall was the Toyota Echo (sedan and hatchback) with 2004 sales of 31,252, up a significant 25.2% over 2003 due to the introduction of the new hatchback bodystyle.
