Was it a case by Poirot? I'm guessing it's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (googled, I couldn't recall the titles)
What I remeber most vividly were passages from the novel where a young woman found herself finding all the hidden ways around her newly purchased country home, and she later discovered that she had been in this house before, when she was only a little girl and had witnessed a brutal murder...oh it still gives me the shivers.
Another good one was what seemed to be a random crime turned out to be a carefully planned murder. The killer actually killed 2 completely innocent people before killing his target. Agatha has a brilliant mind that continues to amaze us until today.
