Re: how about the technology used in the Public Transit system?

That beats Canada for sure. Guai yi ji tiao du mo lu le.

There is this IC card, can be used on buses, subways, taxis, light rails, etc. just by putting your card next to the read until you hear the beep sound. It's even better than Ba Da Tong in Hong Kong which is not accepted in taxis. Saving you the trouble of getting the exact changes while you have your both hands full. Why we don't see it here in Ottawa or Toronto? And most of the buses running on Toronto's busy streets are like right out of a Chinese movie in the 80's...... Where are the tax dollars?

Also, I find the TV screens at each subway station very helpful, you know how many seconds to wait till the next train, which direction, and pick up the news and weather while waiting. Why we don't get to see any here in Canada?

Last but not the least, there is no point to compare any other cities with Shanghai, as you have too much memories there, this is the city you grow up, you had your first cry, first laugh, first kiss....As you move on, you leave your tracks along the way and each city you have lingered holds special meaning to you. One thing on my to-do list is to show my kid all the places that Mom and Dad have lived.

Tax dollars went to the following:
Social welfare(health etc), paying down government debt and, of course a large amount was abused by the politician.

Answer to the second question can be regarded as both good and bad:
People here are more pratical. They use what they used to use. See the buildings on Bay St in Toronto? The doors were built 40 years ago but they are still working properly. On the contrary, China is developing very fast. She can use the latest technology.

I definitely agree with you on the third point, although with a different feeling. I am more comfortable in a Chinese society although I have been there for almost 5 years.

都是ACCORDING TO 我?CARLETON MCOM 做整查所得??

1CAD=一小杯咖啡
1RMB=一碗小馄饨
