If you are in urgent need with good reasons, you can write to the immigration to request urgent processing. I did so with my boss's letter saying he is waiting my citizenship to hire me in a goverment position (I was a contractor at the time). Then I overpassed many in line and took the examination and final ceremony in a couple of months. but please be advised that to be hired by an american employer and need Canadian passport is not a good reason. one of my friends used this but was denied and had to wait in line. Canada wants you work here and pay tax, don't like you to go to US to work for them and pay tax to them.
