You can see the general tax guide on the line caregiver amount. But there are several conditions on qualification of this claim. you can not claim this for your visiting parents. Only if your parents are canadian permenant immigrants and live with you and you support some of their expense, then you can claim this caregiver amount.

I remember someone talked about "183 rule" which considers visiting parents as deemed residents if they stay in Canada longer than 183 days. This should make claiming caregiver amount allowable. The topic seems gone from this site. I searched through this web site without any luck.
