Try to find an excuse and write a letter to them asking the authority to waive the ticket.

My friend also got a ticket, overtime parking plus the license plate has a plastic cover, whick is not permitted in NY. We wrote back told them it is legal in Canada.

We did not hear from them again.

FYI, the plastic cover on the license plate is only legal for offroad use in Canada, i.e., it is NOT legal to use on the streets. I got a warning on this last year.

As far as I know, it is illegal to cover the license plate by the color plastic cover in Toronto. i.e. it is the by-law in the City of Toronto.

Is it legal to cover the license plate by a color plastic cover in Ottawa?
