could you explain your solution a bit? I am lost.

1 and 2 go = 2 min

1 back to the starting point

2 + 1 = 3 min [ total time costed so far ]

5 and 10 = 10 min

2 back to the starting point

3 + 10 + 2 = 15 min [ total time costed so far ]

1 and 2 go = 2 min

15 + 2 =17 min [ total time costed ]

Yeah

Given a rectangular (cuboidal for the puritans) cake with a rectangular piece removed (any size or orientation), how would you cut the remainder of the cake into two equal halves with one straight cut of a knife

There is a man who lives on the top floor of a very tall building.Everyday he gets the elevator down to the ground floor to leave the building to go to work. Upon returning from work though, he can only travel half way up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way unless it's raining! Why?
