Except the several famous songs/scences, I also like the group dance of masquerade. And Raoul looked soo cool when he jumped onto a horse (to follow Christine to her father's tomb).

I think my favourite scene/song at first was "Think of me", then "Point of No Return" really grew on me.

Absoultely.
Although, Crowford won't play at Broadway anymore, it is still by far the best place to watch shows such as , Phantom of Opera, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon etc..
Maybe we should organiza a Opera Trip - NYC this spring.:smokin:

还没有机会看Phanton of the Opera，不过有CD，音乐非常有余味。给你们这么一说，很向往起来。
在看过的音乐剧里，最被感动的还是Rent. Rent描述的是一群落魄艺术家以及他们的朋友在纽约的阴暗角落里为生命、为爱情、为艺术、为住处的挣扎。Rent的年轻作者Johnathan Larson，用了7年时间才把这部另类的音乐剧搬上百老汇舞台，却在公演的前一个星期灰飞烟灭。
我对音乐没有很强的领悟，可是在剧院里，被他们的肺腑之音催得眼泪哗哗地，留下了深刻的印象。
第一次看Les Miserables，脑子里还转过各种各样的念头。第二次看，可能是因为身体里多了个9月大的顽童，老想着什么时候中场休息。
Miss Saigon是在伦敦看的。可能是因为旅游异乡的心情，也可能是因为故事的年代更接近现实，觉得比Les Mis生动。
如果你喜欢ABBA的歌，推荐Mama Mia.

So that's where the inspiration came from? The dress and hair are gorgeous, it totally shows off Christine's beauty and innocence. But people did critized them for putting Christine in an outfit that is completely irrelevant to the Opera Hannibal that she is performing in, her outfit should've resembled Carlotta's during dress rehearsal...anyway I'm not complaining though.

Aren't the lyrics just as beautiful as the tune? I especially love "Flowers fade, and fruits of summer fade, they have their seasons, so do we", which was actually added on during revision and wasn't in the original lyrics.

Can you believe that Crawford is in his 60s?? Actually they still gave it some thought about casting him for the movie, but director Joel Schumacher wanted a sexy and young cast, so obviously Crawford was out of the question. They also considered Antonio Banderas and John Travolta for the role...

Has it been finalized yet? Anybody but John Travolta, please. Didn't know Antonio Banderas can sing, it'd be interesting.

As for Christine, they held screen tests for Keira Knighley (which is funny 'cause she can't sing and got really embarrassed), Anne Hathaway, Katie Holmes etc. But I'm glad Emmy Rossum was the one chosen.

Not sure Travolta and Banderas are up for the challenge. One thing for sure, no risk for ticket selling.

Finalized?

The movie was out in 2004! Now the DVD has also come out for months now. Check the pics I posted those are from the movie.

Phantom is played by Gerard Butler, Christine by Emmy Rossum, and Raoul by Patrick Wilson.

If I remembered correctly, he sang with Madonna in EVITA.

Not sure Travolta and Banderas are up for the challenge. One thing for sure, no risk for ticket selling.

Banderas has actually teamed up with Sarah Brightman to perform the signature song "Phantom of the Opera" on stage (not the whole musical though), so it appears that he can sing.

 

[March]

Gerard Butler, Christine by Emmy Rossum, and Raoul by Patrick Wilson. Their singing are not as good as Crawford and Brightman, but they are young and beautiful/handsome. Also, the opera house on the stage can't be as stunning as that in the movie.
