Admission to Queen’s University
A significant advantage of the 12-Week English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program at Queen’s School of English is the English proficiency exam waiver for admission to Queen’s University. If a Pass on a 12-Week EAP Advanced level English course completed at the School is achieved prior to the time of application, an English language test score may not be required for admission to undergraduate degree programs at Queen’s. Applicants to an undergraduate program should notify Admission Services in writing that they have completed a 12-Week Advanced Level course. Admission Services will contact Queen’s School of English on behalf of the applicant to determine if a waiver is appropriate. The applicant will be advised of the decision by Admission Services.
Applicants should be prepared to write a test of facility in English within the published document deadlines in the case that a waiver is not granted.
Applicants who are taking a 12-Week EAP Advanced level English course during the application process must provide a satisfactory score on a test of facility in English within the published deadlines.
Applicants to many programs of the Queen’s School of Graduate Studies and Research may use a final mark of 80 per cent or higher in an Advanced level English course to satisfy the English proficiency requirement.
