我是新生，问大家几个问题：）

我是研究生新生，因为刚来加拿大一小段时间，问几个比较愚蠢的问题，不好意思。

研究生不用去参加这个学期的Academic Orientation 吧？也就是说到时间去上课就可以了？

买书是不是都在大学里面的书店？用影印版的老师会不会不允许？

选课的时候有个Direct study, 不知道那是学的什么？

还有一个master seminar，是什么样子的形式？怎样才能的高分？

还有我是学环境工程的，学院里面的advisor是谁，怎么联系。

You don't have to buy text books if you don't need to use them because they are very expensive. There is another book store called "Haven Books" close to CU. You can buy/sell new or used books. Their website is www.havenbooks.ca

Normally the professors won't care if you use copys.

Direct study is that you discuss with Professor what you need to learn. Professor will give you topic or work to do. There are no lectures for direct study. Normally you will pick a professor whose study field you are interested in.

Seminar is that you give a lecture/speech in front of professors and other students about what you are studying or what is your research, basically is what you've done. Don't know how to get high mark.
