[请求] 新房upgrade的问题

对于新房，哪些upgrade是最好让builder做的

那在装修上的呢？像厨房的cabinets和瓷砖，卧室的地毯还有楼梯等等，那些是以后做起来很麻烦，价钱又和builder差不多的，哪些是可以以后做而且又便宜的？

厨房的cabinets and 楼梯, better let builder to do it. Because they last very long, expensive to replace and when you replace it , you may lost use of 厨房 for weeks. But to be honest the standard cabinets and 楼梯 usually are good enough, upgrade them may not worth the money.
Other things, it will all depend on you. If you can live with builder's standard stuff and replace them when they wear out, it can save you some money in long run.

Many builder give you a bigger familiy room or kitchen as upgrade. For me it is the best upgrade to choose. If your house is not big,upgrade basement may be a another good idea.

Here is my suggestion regarding new house upgrade.

- External Wall Sound proof. Nowadays, houses are built closely. If your neighbor installs a lousy A/C between houses (like my case), you will have to suffer the noise for the whole summer.
- If your powder room/washroom/ensuite do not have a window, it would be better to add one. This is to keep the house air fresh, dry and bright.
- If possible, it is better to upgrade to 9 foot height each floor. This will make the room bigger and more comfortable.
- If you plan to finish the basement in the future, it is necessary to upgrade the following. (1) Raise the basement to at least 8 feet, better 9 foot height. When you finish your basement, the height will be reduced by approx. 1 foot due to installing ceiling and floor. (2) Rough-in washroom. (3) Add additional window. By law, any bedroom must have window(s).
- Full front bricks, if possible.
- Relocate the wisher/dryer to basement to reduce the noise and vibration.
- Extra Telphone/Cable jack

叫声好！要是八年前给我这么个list，我眼下的活儿就好做多了。等自己真的动手做basement，才发现builder有些活儿做得实在是别扭。
