Ottawa water and sewer, Enbridge and Hydro Ottawa charge new home owners fees for opening a new account as high as 58 dollars + tax but they don't go to check the meters on closing day to know how much the builders consumped before closing day. When we moved into our new house, we read our gas meter as 1897 but when we got our bill, the initial reading (provided by builder) was only 390, that meant we had to pay the gas we didn't use by (1897 - 390) which is around 600 dollars. I called Enbridge and they agreed to adjust it. But we had bad experience with Ottawa water and sewer. Haven't gotten the bill from Hydro Ottawa.
