my financial analyzer told me that
1. there are several large hedge funds that lost tons of money in US
2. they need to pay back in US dollars
3. so that they sell euros and canadian dollars to get US dollars
4. hence there is a US $ shortage;
5. therefore, they bid up US $.

otherwise, when US is in a mess, US $ should go down as well

Canadian $ will stabilize once these hedge funds settlle their US $ obligations.
