About the humidifier

Hi,
Could someone please give me some suggestions about the humidifier? (1) I think my house is too dry. I set up the furnace fan as ON for the winter so far and find now the stair in BASEMENT is broken. (The stair is curve, so the builder used lots glue to shape it) ..
(2) I find some style/mode in HD and read their reviews. They look like not good. they are Honeywell and Air king..

You can:

Get lots of plants
Get the furnace humidifier, more effective and quiet, low maintenance.
Get a console humidifier for the whole house

I got a honeywell a while ago, it lasted three years and the fan broken down. Everytime I turned it on, there seems like millions of billy bee flying around.

Just my non-professional opinion based on experience.

Ideal indoor humidity should be about 30~40%. Too dry may cause discomfort skins, or minor cracks in some areas of your house, such as molding, base board sealant, etc. Too wet is definitely bad, and can cause mildew.

If you can use a house humidifier is better, which works with your furnace. So it is located in basement with easy installation. If you have to use a portable one, there are two types as cool mist and warm mist. Because the way they work, cool mist is typically louder than warm one. You can search internet for more details.

I personally have all of them. Kids can get sick in Winter, it is recommended to have a portable one in kid's room to reduce dry cough. I am very happy with my Honeywell warm mist machine. It is very quiet, and no filter change necessary.

how much about the labor

Hi,
I bought the humidifier from HD today.. Could some one please tell me how much the labor if I ask somebody to install it? I watched the video, It looks like a little diffucty for me. But it says about 1 hour.. Thanks
