请问住Barrhaven的朋友今年孩子入高中都去哪个学校？

Please don't be fooled by ranking based on marks, some schools are giving out marks easier than the others.

My advise is to talk to the teachers (bring the kid along) in each school, and then reach your own conclusion.

Also, whether a school teach French immersion (if that is important to your child) or not may be a criteria.

The Chinese way of follow the crowds is not advisable.

P.S. Could a child be classified as "gifted" or is it just an illusion?

谢谢楼上两位的回复，但不知道有没有这种可能，Merivale成绩好是因为有好多Barrhaven的孩子，可是现在新高中一招生，好生源都走了。

BARRHAVEN 新学校的介绍会先于 MERIVALE HIGH 在 SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL PUBLIC SCHOOL 召开(校舍还没盖好, 介绍会都是去对口学校); 等到MERIVALE HIGH 的介绍会时, 就已经明显感觉到 Merivale 已经有招生压力, 当然BARRHAVEN 的九年级新生多数都会去新学校.

Does anyone know about Cedarview Middle School? Is this one good too? My son is in G. 7 at Cedarview and lot of parents said this school is the best middle school in Barrhaven so I am still thinking let me son finish his G.8 in Cedarview or let him back to the new school.

Cedarview Middle is John McCrae' High's feeder school.

As I understand, John McCrae and New Longfiels Secondary are in different school zones. So, you child has to apply for "transfer" to New Longfields Secondary if you don't live within the school zone.

Cedarview is a very good middle school.


P.S. Cedarview Middle and John McCrae High serve the Old Barrhaven, i.e. west of Greenbank.

Cedarview is also the ONLY middle school in Barrhaven until the new school open. Both Cedarview and Merivale HS are pretty good school.

We are still considering new school and John McCrae. New school is our designed school and we got John McCrae's transfer permit.

有gifted Class的学校未必都是好学校！ 比如说Rideau High School也有 Gifted Class，可是那个学校可是真够差的。

昨天打电话问了一下，新高中9年级新生已经有250多人了。儿子说去新高中最大的好处是在4年里，一直都是学校的senior。
