There are culture differences when it comes to how to serve and how to behave in a restaurant between Chinese and Canadian.

1)In Chinese restaurants when you need a waiter you wave you hand and they will come and ask what you need, in Canadian restaurant it’s the waiter who should come and attend your table and ask if you need help, to wave your hand and get the waiter to come would consider a rude gesture. Maybe that’s why some people feel they are not getting served well in Yangtze, there are certain expectations you expect from the servers and there are certain expectation you expect from your customers. Customer is never God, who ever said customer is God that’s just bull shit.

2)In Chinese restaurant it’s more about the food, in Canadian restaurant it’s more about the experience. Maybe that why Chinese are not as picky when it comes to bad decorations and dirty washrooms, hey as long as the food is good who cares about anything else?

3)I know there are people here who are not happy with the service in Yangtze, but their waiter certainly speak good English, and they are attentive, when they are not serving, they are checking all the tables and standing there. There are always greeting when you come in and there are always greetings when you leave. If you need help you make eye contact and they will come and ask if you need help.


I am in no way related to Yangtze and there are certainly more than just Yangtze offer good services.

I’m only listing the restaurants that I been to before.



感觉你好象真的调查过WAITOR了,可又感觉你没调查的够仔细.(感觉你应该当过客人,但不知道有没有做过WAITOR?)我自己在那里上班不敢说对大家都了解,但起码略知1 2.看了刚才你说的一些贴想稍微纠正一点:

1.从开业到现在,不知道你从哪里听说小肥羊有WAITREES的事情,看你文章总用,但我还没见到店里有过.

2.开始大家总是去问客人需要什么,但现在有是问有是不问,因为发现如果客人需要什么他会告诉你,WAITOR一只在走,前面从不缺人,所以客人需要什么会立刻上来.反过来讲,是因为,如果你总是去问客人,很多时候客人会决的烦,因为不是所有客人都喜欢在吃饭的时候或者在一边吃一边和人聊天的时候被人一句"请问,需要加汤吗"打断.不喜欢被人打扰到.所以大家为了客人的方便很多时候是在等客人叫.就是你所谓的"WAVE HAND"(因为自己就是一个吃饭不喜欢别人总问那个问这个的人,如果需要什么会告诉服务生,反到如果服务声总过来会觉的不舒服.)

3.关于你说的,没事的时候,有WAITOR在那边玩电脑?
开业到现在我总打工,就今天看见一个人上了一会网,而且在不忙的时候,而且也不是WAITOR.店里一共有俩个电脑,大厅的那个只能点菜用,前面可以点菜也可以上网,但我门店有规矩,WAITOR不能进CASHIER所在的区域,也就是能上网的电脑那边.所以我很奇怪你是怎么看到有WAITOR没事的时候上网的?

4.关于休息,说实话我们打工都挺累的,但没关系,挣钱都一样,谁都不会舒服,谁都想休息,所以也认了.但问题是,同样从开店到现在很少能看到有人坐下来休息,如果你看到有人坐在凳子上休息了,俩中可能,1 ,那个人不是WAITOR,可能是MANAGER什么的,我很想知道,难道MANAGER坐一下算很过分吗?大家很多都打过工的. 2.就是在关门以后,LAST CALL以后,大家没办法收拾,必须等客人走,才能去收拾桌子,因为没有别的事情做,那我们总不能说"客人,请您走吧,我们要收拾桌子回家拉?"
顺便在告诉你个小秘密,店里有很多设想头,国内总店都有人在看,而且MANAGER每天都在店里,说实话,即使你想座都没什么可能.

5.象你说的,应该站的笔挺笔挺的象YANGMINGLOU一样,我门做到了,我没看到哪个人走路是低着腰的,或者脱着被的,问题是,自己也打工这么多,朋友也有当服务声的,很少见到想服务生在一天当中每次都拿那么重的东西.起码比起那些盘子什么的重不少吧,而且都是开水,曾竟也有当2个人被水伤到过,没关系,自己活该技术不好不能怪别人.锅重也不是问题,不来这端锅也会去GYM搬呀林,就当锻炼了.以前就过几次服务客人是蹲着的,因为当客人做下的时候,如果你站着解释给客人的话,他门会抬起头看你,但如果你蹲下来的话,他们会很轻松的平视你.后来MANAGER说不好,就没有了,你完全可以当我是在休息.下次试试,讲真,我觉的蹲在地上反倒会更不舒服,大腿肌肉紧蹦.

我们也是人,讲真,不是机器,不少朋友都说感觉你们这么这么忙,从没听谁说过,你们为什么这么闲呢?好多时候有朋友同学过来都没时间说几句,可能我喜欢出汗吧,也可能是室内温度高的原因,每次打工都会出汗.我们已经很努力了,连MANAGER也累的出汗有时候.我门有休息时间,就是抽烟的时间,打工时间内一天最多也就3根,每根不超过5分钟.1天干11个小时.不想老外店,一会一个BREAK,我也干过以前,说实话.休息时间多的我都累.我们已经很努力了,不过还是会继续更加努力.

6. 你说YANGMINLOU,说实话我不是很了解,去过几次,是在MARIWALE那个吗?你很喜欢哪里是吗?如果没记错的话厕所是很小,要从一个浴缸饶过去的,对吗?你觉的那个厕所很不错?你很喜欢?下次你来小肥羊吃饭去那上厕所.(开个玩笑)不过说实话,女厕所没进过.男厕所还好吧,没你说的那么差吧.算中等吧ROUGHLY,承认是没那么干净,以后会努力的/

有个不错的朋友,以前一个星期最少3个YANGMINLOU,现在不知道去不去了,上才在店里碰到他说,不去YANGMINLOU了.他说了句话让我觉的挺有道理的"去哪吃不是吃啊,来这吃起码能保证卫生,别的不说,自己弄,放心"萝卜青菜各有所爱.没必要说这个好那个不好的.照你说,如果为了用厕所去吃饭的话,老板早就把厕所放厅中间了/

7.不知道你到底了界多少?说老外不喜欢.话怎么能说那么死呢?有些喜欢,有些可能不喜欢呢,有时候和WAITOR态度有关系,有时候没有.举的不太好的例子.找个非常好的服务生给你吃便便,你吃完这次还吃下次吗?在找个服务一般的给日本人吃.你下次肯定不吃了,但日本人还吃,因为他们本身就喜欢吃这类食品!所以有时候不应该把话说的那么绝对.而且现在生意一只都是一半左右是中国,一半左右是老外.很多时候老外多过中国人.刚开业的时候很多是说,FIRST TIME.最近去上班发现都是回头客,对了,我们也会问HAVE YOU BEEN HERE BEFORE之类的.
不过有时候太忙了是会忘记一些客人,以后还会努力的!我们可以尽量减少失误,但没办法说不能失误.既然你找到一些资料说不喜欢的,我赶肯定如果我找的话,肯定能找到一些老外说喜欢的.你信吗?

以上所有说的话是我个人意见和小肥羊没有任何关系.只是说出一些自己的看法,如果有什么地方不对的,或者用语不恰当的,多包含点,说实话语文很一般.

I think it's a good restaurant, but the following still need to improve, as I stated in my first post.

There need to be a way to teach non-Chinese how to eat hot pot. I don't believe you can build your entire business on the Chinese community.

That bucket you use to refill the drinking fountains need to change. it looks dirty and ugly, that's what I use to wash my mob with at home. It's disgusting.

The washroom still run out of papers, and messy, need to be checked and cleaned often.

If you take my criticism as suggestions, you can improve on it, if you take my criticism as attack, you can be defensive and do nothing.

Lack of professionalism? Like every waiter walking around stiff and just looking at you with the least eye contact as possible? Everywaiter seems to come over at waving hand but they never come back to help you?instead they stand there and wait like a teacher and a bunch of 3 year olds?is that your professionalism?

He just said most of them has experience being waiters. so let's say you're Bus driver, you received your training to drive OC transpo. are you going to take more training when you go drive the montreal bus line? i dont really think so.

Every restaurant needs improvement, it's just that some dont seem as perfect as the others. you cant bash a resturant because it needs to improve. that's also a part of life by the way. i say deal with it

Well, sure there are people that dont know how to eat hot pot. but after all, i do not think canadian are entirely idiot. they dont look at a giant boiling pot and thing. hmm maybe this is for a bath?. and we can eat the herbs while we are in there?. they can obviousely see that you put the food in the pot. maybe not how long but atleast food+pot=profit part is understood so i wouldnt say they dont know.

Frankly i havnt seen them recharge but, hey, if they never used it for anything else but that. it seems perfectly fine for me. that's pretty much a stereotype, what's next? all black people commits crime?.

Once again i've seen the bathroom, compared to many places it's pretty clean. they are not cleaned as often as night i pressum because when i went there at night it was very clean. but when i went during lunch i did not go to the bathroom

Oh? there are two types of criticisms. one is constructive criticism. like well the washroom isnt exactly the cleanest place in there, but i know they are trying. that's constructive. a bad criticism is when you say. Wow the washroom is dirty messy and just filthy, i like the washroom of (insert a restaurant name here) alot better. that's what you call a bad critcism.

otttawa是个人都知道,yangtze的服务员又老又丑,两三句英语都扯不明白, 也没什么技术含量,他那么努力的给yangtze打广告,能不让人怀疑么?

我看这厮是怕小肥羊和米豆之类的正经中餐把生意都拉走了, 让Canadian知道到底什么是real chinese food, 从此以后somerset那些广东餐馆就门可罗雀了。

真的好讨厌好讨厌,不过上周我的确是去小肥羊的时候去洗手间洗手发现没有纸巾来擦手了。另外那个倒饮料的大桶我朋友当时第一次看到时一下子有些傻眼了。。。。。。。。。。他还以为是装什么用的。。。。
