大统华9月开业

I am looking forward to it! It's close to my house. I am going for the convenience. :D

*******T & T my family's hope********.

Is this really that serious? Lighten up!

I started working in my parents' grocery store long before you were even born, so I don't even want to argue with you on how to 经营.

How many time I'd been to this store? Well, since the first day they opened up in Toronto.

This is exactly my point, the way people treat this store like it is the second coming of God, just read all the related threads, I am trying to lighten up people.

This is just another damned store.

Now this is low, you manage to insult all the Chinese.

Oops, maybe TNT is not considered to be owned by Chinese?

P.S. accord500, click on my name and do a "查找 密码人 发表的更多帖子", see if any of my post is bashing TNT? Also, I am sorry that I didn't know you are a TNT's Door Greeter for so many years.

密码人, why do you seem to be so worked up about people liking T&T?

So what if a lot of people on this forum are fans of T&T? If the new store proves itself after it opens, then that's a good thing for the community. If it fails to prove itself, then who's loss it is? T&T's shareholder (or whoever owns that chain) will take the loss, not the consumers. There's no need to argue about how good or bad it is right now.

When the T&T opens, we as consumers get another choice in terms of grocery shopping. If it is like any other stores of its chain, then it will be a clean place, too. Their current stores, compare to our Chinatown stores, do have a significant upgrade in terms of how clean it appears.
From your other posts, you don't think Chinatown's condition is an issue, that anyone don't like it should just go away, that the reputation Chinatown brings do not affect the whole Chinese image in Canadian society. I didn't understand. It IS in fact filthy and smelly there. If I can get the same stuff in Loblaws, I wouldn't go there at all. In fact, I propbably only go to Chinatown for grocery about twice a year. I know you said the older generation worked hard to get it setted up. Hey, that doesn't mean it does not need any improvements! Having a clean competition will bring that idea in. And I sincerly hope that the shop owners in Chinatown will take up the challenge and clean their stores up!

Now with accord500's words, I suddenly realized something. Maybe you are, or are related to a shop owner in Chinatown. Maybe you see T&T as a bit threat to your revenue. And the owner does not want to put in effort to improve. Maybe that's why you are so against people liking T&T.

大褂, thanks for the reply.

You are the very few (beside zipped) that actually read the posts and put up some good and civilized debate, I respect that.

And no, I am not a store owner anywhere, you have my word for that. If I am, I would be too busy thinking of using more 下三滥的招数 to make more money than being here, don't you think?

And this may come as a surprise to you, I shopped at China Town only when I am taking my child to a Chinese school nearby on Saturday. During the summer months, I don't even go there. Not only that, I will shop at TNT as it will be closer to the Costco.

Am I too worked up? Maybe.

Or maybe it is from the root of where I came from. There are still millions of people back home without basic running water and kids without education. For those of us who are lucky enough to escape those hardships, what are we thinking the moment we landed on a better environments suddenly feel it is a duty or right to bitch on the China Town?

As I said in my earlier posts (which you read), China Town is not the cleanest place in Canada, nor it is the filthiest. Why couldn't people just leave it as that? Also, people tend to forget the merchants provide a lot of funding to the senior citizen club and other community purpose. It just doesn't deserve all the bashing, don't you think?

Again, thanks for the good post, name calling (like accord's) is the last thing I want to engage on.

密码人, my apologies for suggesting you may be defending your revenue. :)

I don't agree with you that people should just leave Chinatown as is. I don't think it deserves all the bashing, but it deserves an honest opinion. Chinatown might not be the filthiest place in Ottawa, but why would one want to be the filthiest place, anyway? If there's room to improvement, then we should try to improve it. Old Chinese saying goes like this, "Mastering a boat in the rapids, if you do not go forward, then you are going backward!". Leaving the Chinatown to be, while other "filthy" places might be improving their conditions, will one day lead to Chinatown to be truly the filthiest place.

In my opinion, I rather them not building the 牌楼, and instead use the money to clean the place up! Install some good ventilation systems in the stores already! And get the workers to scrub the place down at the end of day every day. I'm sure that extra half an hour of wage isn't THAT big of a deal.

And I am sure the Chinatown merchants don't spend all their profits helping others, including senior club and the kids back home who have no running water. Cleaning up Chinatown will bring more business. I think it should be a good business decision.

T&T will set a good example for the Chinatown merchants with the aspect of good shopping environment. That is why I like the idea of having T&T in Ottawa.

密码人, my apologies for suggesting you may be defending your revenue. :)

There is really no need to apologize, really, you have not offended me. Plus your reasoning is pretty valid :p.

Cleaning up China Town is an issue all on its own, I don't think it is solely the responsibility of the merchants there. It is not just in Ottawa, and as I had said, it is the same everywhere (and I don't mean this to be an insult to the Chinese, us).

A clean image that TNT might provide will help, but not a whole lot. For example, parking lot problem (like other Chinese shopping areas) is still going to follow them. All you need to do is looking at the parking situation at Toronto's TNT stores (kennedy and middlefield, never been to the other one), especially during the weekend, it is chaotic just the same. Hopefully, the parking lot at their Ottawa's store is bigger or better designed.

And believe me, one single store won't give us instant respect. Many other humans' aspects play a more important roles.

It is nice talking to you, cheers!

Whew...

Whew...

A mouthful isn't it? :D

This will be my last post in this thread now :o.

P.S.
To put you folks into another perspective, the 汶川地震 (painful)'s anniversary is coming up in 7 days (14:28 PM to be exact), so"shopping experience" doesn't sound very important, isn't it?

说你井底蛙,你去过几个店,几次,视野有限。
说你无知,你知道他怎样竞争怎样经营?
至于可怜,真的是可怜,就一个商店搞得你这么五米三道

very agree!!!!!!!

No matter how to 经营, if it is convenient and suitable to me, it will be welcome. The society will judge it. I don't know what's your matter about the T &T opening. It seems everyone is happy for the opening. Sorry, your story might become a history.

you just got the point!!!!that' right, Sorry, your story might become a history
