地下室有这样一个柱子，上不顶大梁，下不在footing上，地上写有"telepost".这个柱子到底能起什么作用呢？

我不懂建筑，不过头一次看到这样的柱子，没顶着梁，直接顶楼上的地板，新鲜。

A telepost is what supports the main "I" beam in your home, In my case though the previous owner added his own on top of the concrete slab in the basement. So beacause of the type of ground we are on it heaved up a little over the years and caused the adjustable telepost in my crawlspace to put upwards pressure on my "I" beam.

我家的也有几根这样的柱子。它们顶着的是几根“工”字形钢梁，而在工字梁上面是支撑地板的一排木梁子的接头处。
估计你的柱子上面应该还撑住某种结实的横梁，否则就是无用的乌龙柱了。

这个柱子应该是有百害而无一利。如果他真地受力很大，上面会引起地板响（板与梁脱离），下面会引起地面开裂。

房子是新房。其它柱子都顶在工字梁上，就这根不是。柱子上面一楼是个drywall墙，里面没有钢柱， 是承重墙。已经联系inspector了。会将结论贴在这里。
